Ronan Icelandics is located on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
Neither my husband nor I had heard of Icelandic Sheepdogs until February, 2012. However, within 7 weeks of finding out about the breed (and subsequently speaking to some wonderful breeders, meeting some beautiful dogs and doing more research), we were picking up our first puppy–direct from Iceland!
We had fallen in love with the breed but why go the next step and consider breeding? We wanted to become involved both as advocates and promoters of Icelandic Sheepdogs because we felt this relatively rare dog breed was worth preserving. We were, and continue to be, encouraged by a supportive community of Icelandic Sheepdog breeders in the US, Canada and Iceland.
We support the Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America’s breeding guidelines (please see http://icelanddogs.com/Breeding-Guidelines-2016.html) and Icelandic Sheepdog International Cooperation’s international breeding recommendations (see http://icelanddog.org/int-breeding-rec.html). Both organizations are dedicated to protecting the breed and keeping it healthy.
We are a 2017 Approved ISAA breeder.
